Message from SAU (6/8/18)

posted Jun 8, 2018, 3:29 AM by Brian Lynch
Good morning -

Almost 2-weeks ago, a note was found in the school store suggestion box at MVHS. This note indicated a threat to the school would take place this coming Sunday(June 10). The note was immediately turned over to an administrator and then to the Concord Police Department (CPD). After investigation, the high school administration was informed that this note did not represent a credible threat to the school. The Leadership Team at MVHS has been closely monitoring the situation and working with students and families to provide appropriate information and supports.

Social media posts, which began last evening, have heightened concerns and appear to have confused details from the original note. Please know that this issue was taken very seriously and that the school has been in collaboration with the CPD from the onset of discovering the note. Principal David Miller sent an email to all MVHS families last night to apprise the MVHS community of the situation and to remind parents and students that student and adult safety is our primary concern.

Tragic events that have taken place in schools across the nation rightfully have both students and adults on edge. Even non-credible threats send ripples of fear and uncertainty. We will remain vigilant in our continued efforts to ensure all of our schools are safe and secure for students and adults alike. Our intent is to welcome students and faculty to all MVSD and Andover schools today. Additional Concord Police personnel will be present at the MVHS/MVMS campus.

We are thankful for the great trust and support we continually receive from our communities. We are also truly grateful for the Concord Police Department and for their partnership.

Respectfully,

Mark MacLean
